An important objective of SEDCO is to support and promote the development of markets and products for investors who wish to abide by the Islamic codes of practice and the principles of Islamic Shari'ah. SEDCO undertakes this mission through a number of avenues as outlined below.
Promoting Research & Development
SEDCO encourages academics, financial experts, Western financial institutions and their Islamic counterparts to develop and implement competitive Islamic investment products for an international clientele.

The Dow and “Davos” of Islamic Finance
Since 1998, SEDCO has been a major sponsor of the International Islamic Finance Forum (IIFF), which has been held in London and in New York, and most recently in Dubai.
Known as the "Davos" of Islamic finance, the IIFF attracts hundreds of senior executives, academics and financial experts who explore and debate the challenges posed by the world's fastest-growing financial sector.
Since 1999, SEDCO has worked closely with Dow Jones Indexes to create a benchmark for measuring fund performance with the Islamic fund index.
