Saleh Salem Bin Mahfouz
Mr. Saleh Salem Bin Mahfouz has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Board and the Executive Committee. He is also the Managing Director of SEDCO's Real Estate Investments Group. Mr. Bin Mahfouz serves on the boards of EIMAR Real Estate Development Co., Elaf Hotels Co., Alnumu Real Estate Co., Yanbu Cement Co., and Aljazira Equipment Co. He received a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from King Fahd Petroleum University in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia.
Ahmed Sulaiman Banaja
In January 2008, Mr. Ahmed S. Banaja has been appointed as SEDCO's Chief Executive Officer. In June 2008, he became a member of the Board of SEDCO. He served previously as member of SEDCO's Audit Committee. Prior to joining SEDCO, Mr. Banaja began his career with Citibank in Saudi Arabia from 1971 to 1977 and subsequently worked in The National Commercial Bank from 1977 to 1987 and 1994 to 1996. From 1999 to 2001, Mr. Banaja has served as Chairman of the Board of National Shipping Company of Saudi Arabia and as a Board Member till end of 2004. He is currently a Board Member, a member of the Executive and Chairman of the Audit Committee of Saudi British Bank, a Board Member and Chairman of the Audit Committee of Emaar Economic City, and Head of the Investment Committee of Jeddah City Council. Mr. Banaja received his B. Sc. in Mathematics and Economics from the University of Kent at Canterbury, UK.
Abdelelah Salem Bin Mahfouz
Mr. Abdelelah Salem Bin Mahfouz is a Board Member and Member of the Executive Committee. Throughout the 1990s Mr. Bin Mahfouz served in senior managerial roles. He served as the Managing Director of the Financial Investments Group from 1997 to 2006. He began his business career with Saudi Arabia's National Commercial Bank (NCB) in 1975 and served as Deputy General Manager and Regional Manager of the NCB in Riyadh from 1980-1990. He received a bachelor's degree in business administration from Ohio State University in 1975.
Ahmed Salem Bin Mahfouz
Mr. Ahmed Salem Bin Mahfouz began his career with SEDCO in 1983. He was the Managing Director of the Direct Investments Group from 1997 to 2004. Mr. Bin Mahfouz is also a member of the Executive Committee. He is a 1999 graduate of the Owner/President Management Program at the Harvard University School of Business. He also received a degree in industrial engineering from King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
Shuaib Ahmed
Mr. Shuaib Ahmed has served on the Board of SEDCO since January 2000 and he is also the Chairman of SEDCO's Strategy Committee. He became its first non-family Chief Executive Officer in August 2004 until his retirement in December 2007. Mr. Ahmed has also served as member of the Executive Committee. Prior to joining SEDCO, he had worked for 38 years in various senior management positions with Citibank’s businesses in Pakistan, the Philippines, Saudi Arabia, the United States of America, Africa, the Middle East, Europe and the Asia Pacific region. From January 1985 to December 2000, he was a member of Citibank’s/Citicorp's Credit Policy Committee and in February 2001 was appointed Managing Director of Citigroup’s Global Risk Management. He retired from Citigroup in March 2004. Mr. Ahmed received a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Karachi and a master’s degree in management science from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He is also a Sloan Fellow of MIT's Sloan School of Management.
Saleh Al-Turki
Mr. Saleh Al-Turki is an independent non-executive Board member of SEDCO since January 2000. He is the President of NESMA Holding Company, the NAMMA Holding Group of Companies and MAWADDAH International Group. In July 2006, he was appointed as the chairman of the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He is also chairman of the board of Saudi Industrial Development Company (SIDC) and Regional Capital Finance Company. Mr. Al-Turki is a member of the board of directors for Jeddah Holding Company and Al Bilad Newspaper and Publishing Establishment. He is also a member of the consultative council for Makkah Al-Mukarramah Region and council for the Development of Health Services in that region. In addition, he is a member of the board of directors for several companies in varied activities: ranging from banking and investments to trade and industrial general services, both in and outside the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Mr. Al Turki received a B.A. in public administration from the American University of Beirut, in 1970 and an M.A. in public administration from California State University in San Bernardino, California in 1975.
Hani Findakly
Dr. Hani Findakly has been a SEDCO non-executive Board Member since January 1, 2003. He is Vice Chairman and Director of the Clinton Group Inc., a fund management firm in New York. From 1990 to 1999, he was President & CEO of Potomac Bobson Inc., a global investment management firm in New York. He joined Wall Street from the World Bank where he worked from 1975 to 1986. As Director of the Investment Department and Chief Investment Officer of the World Bank, he had overall management responsibility for the Bank's global investment portfolio. Prior to joining the World Bank, Dr. Findakly served on the faculty of MIT's School of Engineering and the Center for Policy Alternatives. Dr. Findakly received his doctor of science (Sc.D.), and master of science (S.M.), from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Arifin Siregar
Dr. Arifin Siregar has broad leadership experience in economics and finance. He is an international adviser to Goldman Sachs (Asia) LLC and country adviser to Edison Mission Energy, a power company that is part of Edison International. In addition to his trade portfolio, which he held from 1988 to 1993, he has served in several other prominent positions with the Indonesian government. He was the Indonesian ambassador to the United States from 1993 to 1997 and governor of Bank Indonesia (Indonesia’s central bank) from 1983 to 1988. Dr. Siregar, who holds a Ph.D. in economics from Munster University in Germany, also has extensive experience with international finance institutions. While governor of Bank Indonesia, he served as governor of the World Bank and alternate governor for the Islamic Development Bank. He also served in several posts with the International Monetary Fund, including alternate governor from 1973 to 1983, and was an economist with the United Nations in the 1960s. His experience includes participating in Indonesian delegations to numerous international conferences including the World Trade Organization’s GATT Uruguay Round from 1988 to 1993, APEC (Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation) 1989-1993, and ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) 1972-1993. Dr. Siregar also served as chairman of the board of the Indonesian-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry and currently chairman of the governing board of the Indonesian Council on World Affairs. He is a past chairman of the Indonesian Economic Association.
Mohammad N. Joukhdar
Mr. Mohammad Joukhdar was Senior Vice President in SEDCO's Direct Investments Group until December 2004. His duties included evaluation and advice to senior management on investments, acquisitions and mergers. He joined SEDCO in 1998 after 13 years with the Saudi Cable Company Group, one of the largest vertically integrated cable manufacturers in the Middle East, where he was Group President and Chairman of several subsidiaries, reporting to the CEO and Chairman of the Board. From 1982 to 1984 he was General Manager of Saudi Mechanical and Electrical Contractors (SAUMENCO), a Saudi-British joint venture electro-mechanical contracting company. From 1973 to 1982 he held various key positions in the oil industry. Mr. Joukhdar received a bachelor's degree in applied chemical engineering, a master's degree in chemical engineering, and is a graduate of the senior executives program at Stanford University.
Abdulrahman Basaddiq
Mr. Abdulrahman Basaddiq is a senior level executive with extensive finance and public accounting experience. Having completed his university education in the United Kingdom he subsequently qualified as a Chartered Accountant. Having completed his articles he joined Earnst and Young and found himself seconded to several countries over a period of 35 years rising to become the firms' senior partner in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He joined SEDCO in 2000 as Chief Financial Officer and a member of its Executive Committee. In July 2005, Mr. Basaddiq resigned from SEDCO to pursue personal and family matters.
Given Mr. Basaddiq previous experience as SEDCO's CFO and as a senior partner of Earnst & Young, he was invited to join SEDCO's Audit Committee as its member. On 2nd October 2007, Mr. Basaddiq accepted SEDCO's invitation to be SEDCO's Audit Committee member.
Yousuf Khayat
Mr. Yousuf Khayat joined SEDCO in 1996 and until June 2004 was Senior Vice President of the Financial Investments Group. In June 2004, he was appointed Managing Director of the Direct Investments Group. An MBA graduate of the University of California, Mr. Khayat started his career in 1982 with Citibank's Saudi affiliate, Saudi American Bank, in the Private Banking Division. In 1984, he joined the Corporate Banking Group. Mr. Khayat was posted to London in 1986. In 1993, he joined a private investment company based in Saudi Arabia, where he was in charge of sourcing, negotiating and monitoring investments in private equity, industrial ventures and real estate development. Mr. Khayat is a member of the board of directors of Gulf Finance House, a Bahrain-based investment bank, and Al Fanar Investment Holdings, a multi-manager family of mutual funds. He served as a member of an advisory council to the Governor of the Mecca Region from 2001 to 2004.
Adnan Soufi
Dr. Adnan Soufi is the Managing Director of the Financial Investments Group since May 2006. He is also a member of SEDCO's Executive Committee. He joined SEDCO in 1991 as Assistant to the General Manager until his appointment as Senior Vice President of the Direct Investments Group in 1998, and later served as Advisor to the Chairman and CEO from 1999. He also served as a board member of several organizations.
In addition, Dr. Soufi was a former Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Administration at King Abdulaziz University (KAU) during 1995-1998 and has served as a professor of Finance and International Business at King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah since 1984. He was also a Senior Associate Member at Oxford University's St. Antony's College in 2005. Dr. Soufi received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering and MBA from Seattle University in 1977 and 1979 respectively, and Ph.D. in Business Administration from the George Washington University, in 1984.
Abdulrahman M. R. Addas
Mr. Abdulrahman M. R. Addas has worked for over 27 years in the banking sector and held senior management positions in the National Commercial Bank. His experience covers corporate, middle market and small business activities, in both local and international markets with emphasis on "Islamic" banking. He is proficient in leading growth business strategies, with excellent track record in management and re-organization, and with proven leadership skills in various management roles. He joined SEDCO in July 15, 2007 as Deputy Managing Director, Real Estate Group. He received a Master of Science degree from the University of Denver in Colorado, USA in 1986 and a bachelor of business administration from King Abdul Aziz University in Jeddah. He was also issued and granted a certificate for Certified Lender Business Banking (CLBB) by The Institute of Certified Bankers, Washington DC, USA.
Khalid Jamjoom
Mr. Khalid Jamjoom is a Senior Vice President of the Real Estate Investments until his appointment as President, Real Estate Services Sector. Mr. Jamjoom began his career in a short hydrological documentary assignment with the DAA Company and went on to gain substantial experience in a number of diverse fields in the building and engineering fields. He worked with several companies including Tretum S.A., the Dullah Group, rising to General Manager of Rubicon Factory. Mr. Jamjoom joined SEDCO in 1992 as Manager, Real Estate Development until his promotion as Senior Vice President, Marketing, Operations & Maintenance. He served also as the President of the Group's major subsidiary, Eimar Arabia and was also the Senior Vice President of its Property Operations. He received his Bachelor in Civil Engineering from Portland University, Portland, Oregon in 1978.
Salem Balleith
Mr. Salem Balleith has been appointed as Chief Financial Officer with effect July 1, 2005. Previously, he was the Acting Senior Vice President of the Financial Investments Group where he oversaw the formulation and implementation of policies, strategies and procedures for the Financial Investments Group. He joined the Company in 1997. He is also a board member of an Islamic offshore fund and sits on the Shari’ah Board of the Alfanar family of funds. He also represents SEDCO in some of the private equity funds focusing on China and Asia. Prior to SEDCO, Mr. Balleith had held several senior management positions with the Savola Group of Companies as Head of Internal Audit, GM Special Projects with responsibility for mergers and acquisitions and Financial Controller. Before that, he was an audit manager with Ernst & Young, where he trained and qualified as a chartered certified accountant.
Ziyad Ahmed Bin Mahfouz
Mr. Ziyad Ahmed Bin Mahfouz joined SEDCO on 30 April 2008 as Senior Vice President, Travel, Tourism & Hotels - Elaf Group. Mr. Ziyad has been the Head of IPO & Dividends at the National Commercial Bank (NCB) from 2004 to 2008. He has served in several managerial and executive positions with NCB from 1993 to 2004. Mr. Siyad received his bachelor degree in public relations from King Abdul Aziz University in 1987.
Adli Ali Hammad
Mr. Adli Hammad is the Company's Corporate General Counsel. He joined SEDCO in 1997 after 16 years in private law practice. Most recently he was senior partner in the Jeddah law firm of Hammad & Al Mehdar. Prior to that he was a labor relations representative for ARAMCO in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, and served as legal advisor to Dailem Industrial Corporation in Jeddah. Mr. Hammad is a member of the International Bar Association, London; the Arab Association for International Arbitration, London; the Arab Lawyers Union, Cairo; and the Arab Society for Protection of Intellectual Property, Amman. He is also a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, London, a member of the Accredited Arbitrators of GCCC Arbitration Center, Bahrain, and is Vice Chairman of the Legal Advisors Committee of the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce. He received an LLB from the University of Cairo, a master's degree in international business law from Southern Methodist University Law School, Dallas, Texas; and a diploma in Islamic studies from the Islamic Studies Institute in Cairo.
Waleed M. Bin Mahfouz
Upon graduation from Merrill Hurst College in Portland, Oregon with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in 1992, Mr. Bin Mahfouz joined SEDCO where he started as an associate. He then moved to the Projects and Agencies domain. When the Company decided to invest in Family entertainment (restaurants and indoors amusement parks), he was put in charge of the project. The project became the Arabian Entertainment Company Ltd. (AECL) and manages well established brand names such as "Applebee's" and "China Gate" restaurants. As well as being the Chief Executive Officer for AECL, Mr. Bin Mahfouz is a Senior Vice President of SEDCO. He is also a member of the board of Okaz Establishment for Press and Publishing.
Tarik Nabulsi
Mr. Tarik Nabulsi is the Acting Senior Vice President of Travel, Hotels and Tourism, ELAF Group of Companies. Mr. Nabulsi has been with SEDCO for over eight years during which he worked as Head of Information Technology and Coordinator of Corporate Strategy of SEDCO. He has 20 years experience in business and information technology. He was responsible for developing IT vision for SEDCO and all entities under its management and ensuring strategic alignment of IT with the strategies and future direction of these businesses. He is also a board director and member of the Executive Committee of Injazat Technology and Telecommunication VC Fund. Prior to that, Mr. Nabulsi worked at various professional organizations such as Savola group, Islamic Development Bank and the International Airport Projects, where he was actively involved in developing and implementing IT strategies and solutions.
Rasheed Yar Khan
Mr. Rasheed Yar Khan is an investment professional with over 20 years of international experience in private and public equity investments. He holds an MBA in Finance. He has been working in SEDCO for more than 20 years and held various positions; currently he is the Vice President, Financial Investments Group. He is an Alternate Member of the Executive Committee and also a member of SEDCO's Communication Committee. He oversees private and public equity investments of Financial Investment Group. His current focus is private equity investments in Asian countries. He is also the Advisory Committee member of Ascent India Fund (UTI), India, APIDC Biotech Fund, India, Legend Partners Fund II & III, China, STIC Ventures, Korea, and also a board member of Shari'ah Committee of Alfanar Fund of Funds, UK.
Sultan Abdulraouf
Mr. Sultan Abdulraouf joined SEDCO in 2004, and currently, he is the Vice President of Financial Investment Group in SEDCO overseeing private and public equity investments of the division. He has over 12 years experience in Investment & Corporate Banking and is responsible for deal sourcing and the due diligence process of new opportunities as well as advising on asset allocation. Prior to joining SEDCO, Sultan worked with SAMBA and The National Commercial Bank in Jeddah. He received his Master of Accounting & Financial Information Systems from Cleveland State University in US. He is also a US CPA.
Khalid Gama
Mr. Khalid Gama joined SEDCO in early 2000, and currently he is the Vice President of the Financial Investments Group in SEDCO. Mr. Gama oversees private and public equity investments of the division. Mr. Gama has fifteen years of professional working experience spread between two reputable banking & financial investment institutions in Saudi Arabia. Specialized in the Islamic Banking, Corporate Finance & Investment industry with a good knowledge in Shari’ah matters related to the Finance industry. Mr. Gama is a member of the Company’s PR & Legal Committees in addition to other ad hoc task forces. Mr. Gama is also an Advisory Committee Member of NeoMed Innovation Fund, Norway. Prior to SEDCO, Mr. Gama was the Head of Corporate Banking Business Development in-charge of the Western Region at Saudi British Bank (an HSBC affiliate) – Saudi Arabia. Mr. Gama received his BA from Saudi Arabia and MBA studies from the USA.
Tareq Hussein Ragaban
Mr. Tareq Hussein Ragaban is a seasoned HR practitioner who has been actively involved in the field since 1979. His experience spans government, international, and the private sector. He holds a bachelor of science degree in industrial psychology and a master's degree in manpower development. He joined SEDCO in 1998 where he has been instrumental in consolidating and updating the HR system.
Mufaddal Ali
Mr. Mufaddal Ali joined SEDCO in February 2005 as an Audit Manager until his promotion and appointment as Vice President of Internal Audit in July 1, 2006. Prior to his joining SEDCO in 2006, Mr. Ali worked for Fakeeh Poultry Farm, The National Commercial Bank, PriceWaterHouseCoppers and Arthur Andersen from 1995 to 2004. Mr. Ali got his CPA from USA in 2001 while at the employ of Arthur Andersen. In 2003, he got his SOCPA from KSA. He received his bachelor degree in Accounting from KFUPM in 1995. Mr. Ali is also a member of the American Institute for Certified Public Accountant, a member of Saudi Organization for Certified Public Accountant, and a member of Institute for Management Accountant.
Mohammed B. Bafail
Mr. Mohammed Bafail joined SEDCO in December 2005 as the new General Manager of Al-Jazira Equipment Co. Ltd. (Autoworld Dammam), one of the business units of SEDCO Direct Investment Group. Prior to joining SEDCO, he had worked with Saudi Cable Company in Jeddah as General Manager, Commercial Department. Mr. Bafail received his B. S. degree in engineering management from Alliant International University in San Diego, California, USA.
Abdullah M. Murad
Mr. Abdullah Murad is the Company's Secretary General and Vice President Legal Affairs. He joined SEDCO in 2000 after 11 years in law practice. Mr. Murad is licensed to appear in front of all level and jurisdiction of law in Saudi Arabia. Most recently he was a partner in Fallata & Murad law firm. Prior to that he was a legal advisor for the Presidency of Civil Aviation in Saudi Arabia, and served as an associate for a major international law firm in Jeddah. He is an associate with the American Bar Association (ABA); He is also a Fellow of Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, London. He received an LLB from King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah, a master's degree in international business law from Tulane University Law School in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Sami Alawfi
Mr. Sami Alawfi joined SEDCO in March, 2002 as Project Manager, IT Infrastructure until his promotion to Vice President, Info Technology in July 2006. Mr. Alawfi has over thirteen years of information technology professional experience. He was a Systems Analyst with Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency in Riyadh from July 1993 to Nov. 1994 and was a team member that builds and maintains the Electronic Securities Information Systems or ESIS. He also worked as a Software Engineer with BTI in Riyadh from 1996 to 1998; a Software Engineer with Thomson-CSF AIRSYS ATM in Paris, France; a Consultant with RCG Information Technology Inc. in Houston, Texas for nine months and as a Senior DBA with a leading supplier of silicon wafers Wacker Siltronic Corp., in Portland, Oregon, USA from Dec. 1998 to Dec. 2001. He received his BSc. degree in Computer Science from King Saud University in 1993. Mr. Alawfi is also associated with the 1999 International WHO’S WHO of Information Technology, a 2001 Data Warehousing Institute Member and has received various IT Industry certificates.
